koru shape is carved on the inside of most of the bowls. The koru represents
new life, We only have one bowl available. Unfortunately we cannot get hold of the artists for any other bowls. Thank you.

Kauri trees are HUGE. Unfortunately there are not too many left. The largest kauri in existence is in the Waipoua Forest near Dargaville and is called 'Tane Mahuta' (this is Maori for "Lord of the Forest"). This tree is approx. 4.4 metres in diameter and 17.7 metres to it's first branch. The oldest tree is approx. 2,000 (!!!) years old: Te Matua Ngahere (Father of the Forest), also in Waipoua Forest. Swamp kauri is thousands of years old - up to 50,000 years... the kauri are dug up and are used for our bowls. |
