Messages of support we have received from around the world.
A heartfelt thank you...
We also thank our customers in Christchurch and Canterbury for getting in touch... |
Thanks so much for your kind thoughts. I thought you may like to know the story behind buying these.
These taonga are for my daughter (a kiwi) who is marrying a texan in Texas this month. She has asked me for these as a tangible reminder of home.
I have bought them on behalf of her grandmother who broke a hip and arm in the first earthquake and this last 'quake saw the final wrecking of her house compounded by flooding! I suggested she give her grandaughter taonga as they are something she will always wear near her heart.
Thanks again for your kindness

Dear Goina
Thank you so much for your concern and good wishes. Although this has been a very difficult time we will bounce back and reclaim our lives and our city. There is so much to do but with the help and support we are getting from all New Zealanders, we will do it.
Many thanks again

Dear Goina,
A message to AOTEAROA.
We are saddened by the news from Christchurch and so soon after the November mining disaster.
Love and strength to all those affected.

Dear Goina,
Just a follow up, my wife wears the doubletwist every day.
In other happy news, my family have all survived the earthquake!

Thanks Goina - I already have two of these, and a large one will finish the set off nicely. I'm so glad that the vendors are okay, and am hoping they will be able to keep there business thriving down in CHCH. Its tough being a Kiwi away from home having to watch the television each night, certainly makes me feel homesick! Anyway, am looking forward to my new Koru arriving,
Thanks

Hello Goina
As a Kiwi living in Oz I am glad to be of assistance in this small way. My in-laws have lost their homes in CHC and my husband has returned to Lyttelton to help with re-housing his parents and his sister and her husband; it is still quite surreal. I am looking forward to receiving the bowl - it certainly looks beautiful.
Kind regards

Hello Goina
The mats arrived yesterday and they are lovely. Thank you for the terrific job you did with getting them to me. I appreciate the speeding delivery and most of all your friendly help throughout.
Thank you for the newsletter today. People over here are still asking me about the earthquake and whether my family is safe, and I am so happy to tell them that they are all OK. Our hearts are heavy with grief for the huge loss to so many families in New Zealand. The news coverage has been excellent over here in Perth although it is hard to watch the graphic pictures without feeling very sad. I admire the positivity of those who are already saying ‘ we will recover from all this’. It will take a long time.
The best to you
Kind regards

Hi Goina, we've been on a cruise the last week and was stunned when we heard the news on the short time we were on shore last week. Couldn't get many details though and just got back today and saw the footage. Unbelieveable! Very, very sad to see, but also inspiring to see Kiwi's pull together and help each other out. Been watching footage from everywhere, you're right, it really does feel like 9/11 again, that's exactly what I thought. Thank goodness you and your artists as well are fine.
Thoughts and cares are with NZ, for a while yet.

We are so sorry to hear of the earthquake tragedy in Christchurch. We were there Christmas Day and were awakened at 2am by significant tremors. It's a beautiful city with accommodating residents and it will always have a special place in our hearts.
Thank you,

Dear Goina,
Just few words to say that all of you are in our thoughts and, even if we are far from you in distance terms, our heart is suffering with you.
We wish you a prompt recovery.

Hiya Goina~
Just wondering if you've heard from your Christchurch artists and how they are.
Clearly, the earthquake on Tuesday was WAY worse than the one last September.
If
you're going to be doing anything special to benefit them please let me know.

Those things scare me very much, they are very real here...
Please stay safe.

There is a crew of locals who train for search/rescue in Northen and southern california...they have been to Haiti and all over the world...They specialize in earthquakes...about 75 of them are on their way to your country... These are brave and special people...and their dogs are simply amazing...they have no fear. I hope they help... I have seen them and know one of the trainers who specializes with queensland heelers but I see they had to leave the dogs behind because of your local rules... Just so you know... http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-news-world/us-rescue-team-heading-to-christchurch-20110223-1b4dy.html

Hello Goina. It's also dramatic news in Holland. Do you already know that your friends overthere are safe? Ik hope so. Roelof

Thanks for the reply. I'm sure the earthquake has been a big issue there. Our son lives in Auckland and emails have been flying back and forth from family wondering how he is doing. The first time there was a large quake a few months ago, my son and fiance happened to be in Christchurch for a meeting. Talk about a mother panicking!!

Dear New Zealand,
We are so very sorry to hear of the deaths and damage caused by the earthquake. Our condolences go out to you and all of your fellow countrymen at this time of great sorrow. We will keep you in our prayers.
Sincerely, Rebecca and Terry Patterson - USA
and
hello Goina - Terry here.
There really are no words for the feelings one has when hearing about calamity far away. We all just want to get on a transport and come to lift a brick or spirt in aid to those in need. it is truely wrenching to have hands tied. the hour that the towers fell in New York city, I was on the phone with a client that worked not far from the site. we raise german shepherds and we wanted so much to race to new york to help. in reality, there wasn't the means, and the dogs are not trained for search. for those who have lost all they had, and those that have lost love ones, we want to help. where can we send items of clothing, food, money and as much human kindness as we can.
love,
the copper country

* Terry is collecting money at the walmart where he works and the local radio station is going to broadcast an appeal next week. also, a few of our local churches are going to donate. |
Dearest Goina - Oh my goodness, not again, I have just heard the news of poor Christchurch. My prayers and love to all involved. My team at work had a moment of reflection for the individuals that are injured, have passed away and their loved ones. Take care... All love. It is heartening to hear that other countries are coming to support. Our prime minister David Cameron has pledged his support also so our very best wishes and love.

HORRIFIC news from Christchurch this morning though. I'm about to send message to our wonderful B&B hosts there to see if they're ok.
and Just received message from our Christchurch hosts saying all family & friends safe.
Kia ora
I only got to see TV coverage last night & found it extremely distressing. Relieved to hear this morning (evening your time) that they got that woman out from under her office table. We'd heard her desperate phone call yesterday, & I'd woken several times in the night thinking about her. And all the trapped people too, of course, but its always easier to focus on just one person.
A friend here was worried about her Christchurch friend. Couldn't get through by phone, and then she spotted her in a TV news clip, comforting another woman in the street!!

Hi Goina - I read about the earthquake. I have very fond memories of Christchurch as I played rugby for Marist back in 82 and my very good friends mum lives in Timaru ... My friend has e-mailed me back and mum is safe and so is a niece that lives in southern Christchurch. It is extremely sad to hear of it happening again as the residents were just coming out of the last one. And I think they predict many more aftershocks in the coming months.
Best regards Baard H. - USA

We also received several messages from family and friends in the Netherlands.
