Rimu
Rimu is revered for its deep lustrous reddish-brown tones. Rimu is a member of the ancient Podocarp family. Rimu can grow up to 50 metres tall and live for a thousand years. Traditionally the Māori used rimu to make taiaha (fighting staffs), waka (canoes) and tools. It was also used extensively in early colonial New Zealand as floors, panelling and cabinetry.
