Monotype print of flax flower

This monotype print is created with harakeke (NZ flax). Harakeke, or New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax), is an indigenous, swamp-loving plant with long, sword-shaped leaves. Harakeke is traditionally used by Māori for their beautiful Raranga (basket and mat weaving) and for kākahu (Māori clothing, like cloaks).

Colour

Black and white with a touch of purple (very subtle) on white paper.

Handmade

Monotype print made with a gel plate, brayer, acrylic paint and the harakeke flower.

Paper

Wet-strength paper (not copy paper), ready to frame.
