Maori korowai II. Our artist creates these korowai from faux fur and therefore quite cost effective.
The korowai comes with a rooster feather trim at top.
You can choose either ‘Roimata’ (brown) or ‘Marama’ (cream). These korowai are used by performing Maori cultural groups in Rotorua and Christchurch.
The faux-fur korowai are used for ceromonies (graduations, weddings, tangi, unveilings, birthdays) as well as for Kapa Haka performances.
The korowai comes with a draw string cord means the korowai can be brought in or out to fit different size adults. And they are also fully lined with faux suede and washable.
Size Maori korowai II: 150cm wide, 125cm high plus cords to tie.
The feathers used are imported into New Zealand after disinfectant treatment, fumigated and cleared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
As New Zealand’s import restrictions are the strictest in the world this product can be safely sent or taken into any other country in the world.
Though “korowai” is the term that is generally accepted today to describe a “Maori cloak” it was in fact a particular kind of Maori cloak, emphasis placed more on the creation of an elaborate “taniko” border.
“Kahu huruhuru” was the term used for a feather cloak
