Christchurch earthquake... devastating and heartbreaking... unedited footage is coming in... the same awful feeling as 9/11 even though this is nature... the scene is so similar... smoke and dust... buildings in ruins... bloodied people walking in the street... people running... people crying... And this time loss of life, which makes it so much worse. And such a feeling of helplessness...
The amazing people of Christchurch, the rescuers working tiresly, ordinary people saving lives of others and helping out where they can...

Christchurch earthquake...
Please donate...
We've been watching the news for most of the day. Devastating images, but luckily no loss of lives, however, two people are seriously injured. We hope they will be ok.
We've contacted our Aotearoa.co.nz artists. Ian and Tokiko, from Venus Hot Glass, are ok, but it might take up to two months before they can create their glass koru again.
Also Greg, who creates our wooden bowls, is ok. We hope to receive good news from our other artists too. We also hope our Christchurch clients, family and friends are all ok.
And of course everyone else affected by this earth quake.
You can donate through the NZ Red Cross. Thank you.

Still in the Netherlands. We have beautiful spring weather and it's a joy to be here. My friend Ad is going home for the first time in 9 weeks (for a couple of days). It's great to see his improvements over the last few weeks.
It's a lovely time of the year in the Netherlands. I just love the coleseed fields in full bloom. A sea of bright yellow flowers waving in the wind.

April 2010
We are currently in the Netherlands to visit my best friend Ad who's very ill, but improving by the day. We left NZ in a bit of a hurry. The Dutch consulate was great, issuing an emergency passport within 3 days, the NZ consulate for issuing a returning residents permit on the day and our travel agent Peter did a great job to get us out of NZ as soon as possible, and great friends are looking after our business. Thank you Bronwyn, Mike & Linda G. - Art by the Sea gallery - and Linda W. You are great mates :-)
And spring is here - in the Netherlands that is. We are lucky that we arrived before the Iceland vulcanic eruption that disrupted a lot of flights. Over 63,000 flights have been cancelled in Europe in the last 4 days or so.
And it's business as (un)usual. We still process all email and orders, however, there might be a slight delay when it comes to shipping, as our friends have full-time jobs and/or run their own business.
Thank you for your understanding,
Goina
March 2010
Go Emirates Team New Zealand! Winners of the Louis Vuitton Cup - Pacific series. Great event. In the end it was a very exciting semi-final against Azzurra; ETNZ had to do a penalty and did this at the end of the race, and won by less than a second! Heart beat was up. The finals (best out of 3 races) was against Mascalzone (Italy) - another great team.
