Tiki Design is run by a Maori family, father Garry and his two sons Jason and Grant. They are based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Gary Holder
Gary is a descendant of Te Awhitu, Te Awhitu, Katerina Te Waihanea and Alexander Bell of the Maniapoto iwi. He is a wood sculptor and carver who specialises in creating works of his ancestral native art.

Through observation of Maori art, Gary's artistic style has developed from the influences of such carvers as Rukupo, Pene Taihapa, John Taihapa and Paki Harrison.

His unique gifts of painting and carving have assisted him in designing the many and varied works created in traditional and contemporary style. He uses not only wood but also greenstone. Each commissioned piece gives the observer an insight into another spiritual and cultural dimension.

Grant Holder
Grant has been attached to the physical and spiritual aspects of the business for the last decade and is now developing his own style through his interest in all aspects of Maori culture and Whakairo (carving). He studied art at Henderson High School and further developed his observation of artistic skills overseas and in New Zealand.

Jason Holder
Started carving at the age of eight and at Massey High school further explored his Maori whakapapa under the tutelage of Awa Hudson. Goldie and Lindauer works influenced him while he was studying for School certificate art. The carving style of the contemporary artist Hemi Ranginui has also been an influence. He enjoys working on pieces that reflect the Taranaki style of whakairo.
