Pearl shell fishhooks and the 'pa atu' lure

The pearl shell hooks were used throughout the Pacific for bait fishing. The shell is strong and durable and is also beautiful.

The Pa Atu, is a lure used for the Atu or tuna in Samoa. This style of lure was used throughout the Pacific. The lure is capable of catching Atu (skipjack), Asiasi (yellow fin tuna) and Masimasi (dolphin fish).
