A few of our Aotearoa.co.nz arts were featured on the TV3 breakfast show 'Sunrise' by our local Eco family, the De Varga's from Belmont (just up the road from us): fern bone carvings worn by Louise and her son Quinn. And samples of eco friendly gifts: flax flowers, Maori koauau (wooden flute), ceramic tapa bowl. And our corrugated iron lamb was in the garden (not shown in the video clip).

Tui. A tui is a NZ native bird and they are normally black. We received a photo through our artist Kay Phillips. The photo was taken by her friend Mandy Hague. It's a white tui and they are extremely rare. It's not an albino, but it has a rare genetic disorder called 'leucism'. Please visit Mandy's blogspot with some great photos of birds and more info.

14 July 2007.

Our friend and greenstone carver, Barry Wilkes, passed away on Saturday 14 July 2007. We've known Barry for quite a few years and are saddened with this loss, but happy to have known him. He was such a wonderful and colourful character. We offer his son David and his family and friends our sincere condoleances. The funeral will be held on Thursday.

Barry Charles Wilkes. On Saturday 14 July 2007; peacefully, aged 49 years. Loving father of David "stayed strong and fought a brave battle throughout his illness which made me very proud". "He will be forever missed and I will be forever thankful to him".

The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Morrison Funeral Home, 239 Lincoln Road, Henderson on Thursday 19 July 2007 at 12.30pm.

We're in ValeNZia now... it's just great to be here. There are hundreds of Kiwis walking around with their NZ flags and Emirates Team New Zealand flags. We will watch another race today. It's not over yet! Go Emirates Team NZ!!! It's 2-4 for Emirates Team NZ

(race abandoned today, next race Tuesday3 July).

Romy is on Kevin's honour's list. Romy (19) is our computer consultant's daughter. She died of leukemia in May 2005.

22 January 2007- We have moved into our new premises! Aotearoa.co.nz has been growing and we needed a bit more space. We found a lovely place to live, a refurbished part of an old church with a lot of character.
