DECEMBER 2002
Wishing you a wonderful December month and a happy & healthy 2003.
We thank you for your support! The pohutukawa is our NZ Xmas tree,
pohutukawa trees can be found near the coastline
and are in bloom during December. The pohutukawa tree in the above image is growing in Devonport,
just down the road from us. The name pohutukawa is derived from the Maori words 'po-' and 'hutukawa'. 'Po' has many meanings, but can refer to the night or underworld. 'Hutukawa' is a head dress of red feathers which could be compared to the trees' crown of brilliant red blooms over summer. The name 'pohutukawa' is also said to mean "splashed by the spray", an apt name for a tree commonly found by the sea. more info from Project Crimson:
"To enable pohutukawa and rata to flourish once again in their natural habitat, and to enjoy the status of icon in the hearts and minds of all New Zealanders". OCTOBER 2002

Thank you for surfing in...
And again... we're in the top

Our new logo...
Aotearoa
means 'land of the long white cloud', the name given to New Zealand
by the Maori. Our logo incorporates the koru shape. The koru is the
unfurling of the fern leaf.
It represents growth, movement, new life, new beginnings... Another nice story of our site being found: I saw one of your bracelets on someone, here in Wales. I was really impressed. When she said that it came from New Zealand I thought I'd never be able to get one. I saw the name Aotearoa on some publicity for an Arts project in Wales, and not knowing what it was, I did a google search and found your website. The world works in mysterious ways! The bracelet is a gift for my wife.
Diolch yn fawr iawn - Very many thanks.
