Aotearoa.co.nz is very happy to introduce our Maori artist Anita Rose:

"Both my parents are of Ngati Porou descent. I was fortunate to have been born within the area of Ngati Porou, which is on the North Islands east coast. The home of my heart is on the North Islands west coast. I feel honoured to be a part of the east where the sun rises and the west where the sun sets".

Ever since childhood Anita has been fascinated with Maori myths and legends. Their guardians have made her feel cared for and connected to everything between and beyond the Earth and Sky.

As an adult she is grateful that the indigenous Maori culture is alive and truly acknowledged as a part of New Zealand's roots.

Anita loves life, her culture, being inspired, and inspiring others. She is a New Zealand - Maori but no expert on Maori culture.

Each card is her own perception of elemental guidance.

Kaitiaki Guardians are a light hearted tool to give the reader beautiful food for thought. It is a way to enhance your day.

Information about the Kaitiaki Guardians:

This is a beautiful unique kiwi made product that brings to life 22 Maori mythological guardians to inspire and promote positive well being.

Kaitiaki Guardians
Kaitiaki Guardians is comprised of:
a deck of 22 photo illustrated cards representing each guardian. A booklet of short stories about each guardian and the inspiration they have to share. Kaitiaki Guardians are encased in either a hand woven flax basket (konae) or 'golden' bag.

How to use
The idea is to shuffle and choose a card at random, then refer to the book and read about that particular guardians’ story and inspiration for you. Before selecting a card you may chose to meditate briefly or think of a question to get clarity and insight on a particular aspect of your life.
