Greenstone pendants.

KAPEU, ROIMATA and TAUTAU

Many ornaments were worn suspended from holes pierced in the ear. These included feathers, teeth, bones and carved pounamu.

These ear pendants were a product of late fashion. They owe their origin to the practice of suspending small chisels or gouges from the ear for safe keeping.
