You can win a Maori bone carving by Joe Katoa. Joe just retired from carving bone for us.
Our carver Joe Katoa has been carving for us for over 15 years. He is a fantastic carver and we are very happy that he has been part of our Aotearoa.co.nz site for all these years.
Our site started with 12 bone carvings from Joe late last century. It was the early stages of the internet and we uploaded a few personal pages, including a bit about Maori culture. We then received an email from Tony S. from the USA. He requested a bone carving, but couldn't find one online. Neither could we and thought it might be a great idea to promote Maori culture and start a site with a few bone carvings.
Thank you Joe for your beautiful work. Take care and enjoy your retirement; have a great trip to Tonga later this year.
