Q. What does Aotearoa mean?
A.
Aotearoa means "Land of the long white cloud", the name given to New Zealand by the Maori. The Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand.

Q. What kind of bone do you use?
A. We use beef bone for our carvings. more info

Q. Who makes your carvings?
A. All carvings are made by Joe and his son Sione.

Q. How is a carving made?
A. We added a few pages about how to carve bone... and added a list with excellent books about carving.

Q. When will you have pounamu, greenstone carvings?
A. We received quite a few requests and are looking for a carver... and... a pounamu koru carving has been added. More pounamu carvings have been added!!! Have a look!

Q. When do you send our carvings?
A. As long as we have your carvings in stock, we will send your carvings on the day we receive your order (apart from Saturdays and Sundays or NZ public holidays). If we do not have your carving in stock, it will take 3-5 days before we will send you your carvings.

Q. How long does it take for the carving to arrive?
A. Depending on where you live, it will take between 3-10 days for your carving to arrive. The carving will leave New Zealand on the day that we package and post your carving. It also depends on the postal service in your own country.

Q. Do you offer secure payments?
A.
Yes, we do! You can follow the link to our order page and follow the instructions there. We take Amex, Diners, Mastercard and Visa. (You can also pay by Telegraphic Transfer or by Moneyorder, draft, cheque).

Q. We would like one of your carvings, but smaller/larger in size...
A.
We are happy to organise smaller or larger carvings. Or larger ones if you wish...Just let us know the height and width and we will organise this for you.

Q. What is the meaning of the carvings?
A. All carvings have a description and meaning. You can find this on the carving pages. Have a look here for more information. Also our intro page gives you a short description.

Q. The image on the side of your pages, who made it?
A. This image is part of a print made by Fern Petrie. Fern was one of our other artists, but is no longer on our site. The image has been edited in Photoshop.
