It is the perfect gift for a special friend who will appreciate some Maoritanga being Hawaiian himself. Being an Aucklander myself before I moved here, I love watching the America's cup challenges, to see some of home makes me home sick. I don't miss the cold though. Good luck to the Kiwi's, I'll be cheering for them too as I always do. I tell my friends we need to rename the cup, maybe.... New Zealand cup? As for the one I lost - there was a small gap in the jump ring, and I guess he slipped off the chain somewhere between here (work) and home. I don't have a prayer of finding him, but that's okay because I've got this beautiful new one (and one tucked away safely in the unlikely event of another loss). |

Sa gave me the most amazing hook at the beginning of the week. It looks like Israel Kamakawiwoole's hook. He is one of my favorite artists. I don't know if you've ever listened to his music before or not, but it's wonderful, and I've thought his hook was really nice for a long time. Sa said that it was especially made, and I just wanted to let you know that I truly appreciate it. To have it as a gift from my wife and made by you folks makes it a real treasure to me. Something that I will wear always. When I moved to the mainland from Hawai'i. My hanai sister gave me a hook which says E hana me ka oia i'o on it which means to always be true, and that hook hasn't left my neck until I received this one. I couldn't replace it with just any hook, but this hook is special and I am very grateful for the work put in to it. Please express my thanks to the carvers. Mahalo a nui loa, a me Aloha no... |
