We both have
a history of management of small and medium sized business in the manufacturing
sector. They first started slumping glass bottles about 10 years ago.
Marilyn was visiting
a supplier and found an Italian book on glass Fusing. This book fired
our imagination and we started tinkering with the art of glass fusion.
We eventually achieved a good result with a totally new method of production,
and from that set our production and management skills in motion.
With such unique
product difference we built up a medium sized company called Revitaglass
producing Fused Glass tableware. Two years ago we became aware that
our creativity was being stifled by the strictures of having to run
a company and keep 10 staff occupied, so decided to sell the company
and move into a more artistic area.
We have for the
last 2 years taught ourselves how to cast crystal glass quite successfully
and the smaller environment allows us more time to experiment and create
beautiful things. Every single pieces is made in a separate plaster
mould which has to stand up to glass at red hot temperatures and is
destroyed when the crystal glass is removed.
We have a passion
for glass and are constantly amazed at how versatile the medium is,
always presenting us with new challenges.
